Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan is an American musician and singer. She is also referred to by her popular nickname, the Queen of Funk. She has been awarded of ten Grammys over her entire career spanning more than 50 years. Billboard Magazine ranked her 65th among the top dancer in the world. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was introduced to jazz by her grandmother at an early age. When she first started her career she played with a variety of bands. In the end, she was a part of the group Rufus. Her debut album was released as a member of the band at age of 20. A year later, the group received the first Grammy. She released her self-titled debut album in the years that followed her solo debut. Over the years she came out with a variety of albums including "Echoes Of An Era," The Woman I Am,' and Funk This. The singer is also well-known for her charity work. Chaka Khan Foundation was established in order to aid children from low-income families and those with autism. Khan performs as an actor occasionally. She was the character the character Sister Carrie in the musical "Mama I'm a Singing Lady.'
